Arizona Crossing Rock Weir Detail Rock Weir Grade Control Structure

This project is being funded by the California Department of Fish and Game's Adaptive Watershed Grant Program. Questa is providing professional environmental and engineering services related to removal of a 9-foot-high concrete Arizona Crossing and a golf cart bridge across the San Antonio Creek at the Soule Park Golf Course. The Arizona Crossing, which was constructed at stream grade but caused downstream bed scour, is currently precluding all fish passage (including southern steelhead) upstream of the structure. The channel has completely filled in with sediment behind the structure. The initial scope of work includes geotechnical, hydraulic, and geomorphic analyses, and development of a conceptual design. The overall objectives of the County are 1) to provide a year-round, all-weather bridge to accommodate vehicles required for golf course maintenance and 2) to facilitate the reestablishment of fish movement through the project area. To accomplish these objectives, the pavement currently in the channel bottom will be removed and a new bridge structure will be installed. Bioengineering approaches will be utilized for bank stabilization. To date, a conceptual design has been developed to enable the County to apply for grant funding of the construction project.
