For the County of Monterey / Michael Brandman Associates

Questa was responsible for completing the Water Resources, Potable Water Supply, and Geology sections of the Monterey County General Plan Update EIR. The scope of work included: 1) providing information on existing conditions, regulatory framework, management needs, and management issues, 2) impact analysis and development of mitigation measures, and 3) review of relevant policies and formulation of new or revised policies where existing policies were inadequate.

Water resource/water supply issues addressed in the review and General Plan policy update included: water quality (nonpoint source pollution, erosion and sedimentation, agricultural impacts, and wastewater disposal), groundwater management (groundwater level decline, saltwater intrusion, well competition), drainage, and flooding. Geology issues addressed include: fault rupture, ground shaking, liquefaction, slope instability and landslides, soil erosion hazards, expansive soils and unstable geological units, septic and alternative wastewater systems, and tsunami/seiche/mudflow hazards.
