Questa
prepared a grant application and secured $786,000 in funding from the Department
of Water Resources Urban Streams Restoration Program for the Alameda County
Flood Control District for construction of this project. Partnered with
Fremont's Math/Science Nucleus, a non-profit educational and research
organization, the project restored and enhanced 3,100 lineal feet of Mission
Creek and provided environmental education opportunities for several nearby
schools.
In
addition to the preliminary design, we prepared the CEQA review document, all
project permitting, final Plans and Specifications, and bid documents.
The
creek restoration work involved the creation of a meandering low-flow channel
with planted terraces, riparian revegetation, biotechnical erosion control, and
flood hazard reduction. The project also included the replacement of an existing
bicycle/pedestrian pathway and bridges, and construction of an outdoor classroom
seating area. |
