Questa developed a storm water quality management plan for the Marin Horizons School in Mill Valley California. The storm water plan was developed as part of a school modernization and improvement plan. Since the school and parking area are located immediately adjacent to a sensitive creek, and the parking lot discharges directly into the creek, the plan required consistency with the Marin County Clean Water Program, which discourages the creation of an increase in impervious surface area, especially for properties adjacent to creeks and sensitive wetlands, and encourages the use of porous pavement and wetlands treatment swales.
The plan Questa developed for the school included the use of porous pavement parking areas, discharge of parking lot runoff through a grassy treatment swale, and use of filter media such as Fossil Filters in the drop inlet structures in parking areas.
