Questa performed geotechnical studies for the extension of Kay Road to act as a walking and vehicle pick-up access to Montalvin Elementary School in Richmond, California. A design level investigation was performed, including surface soil mapping, soil borings, laboratory testing of collected soils, pavement section design, and geotechnical design recommendations for site preparation and grading, engineered fill slopes, retaining walls, drainage measures, and others. A summary report presented results of the investigation and geotechnical design recommendations.

Follow-up work included preparation of a Geological Hazards Assessment for submittal to the Department of the State Architect as required for critical structures such as schools and hospitals.
