In
association with Environmental Science Associates, Questa created a Master Plan
for the 320-acre Grasslands Park. The site mixes naturalized grassland areas,
leased active recreation facilities (model plane soaring, horseshoe pits, and an
archery course), and natural/created habitat areas.
The
Master Plan: 1) provides a baseline inventory of environmental conditions,
including wildlife habitat needs and management issues; 2) provides a forum for
public input on recreation uses; 3) identifies locations, size, and appropriate
uses for park areas; 4) develops an efficient circulation system for the
multiple access needs (pedestrian, bicycle, vehicular, etc.) of park users and
management entities; 5) identifies signage and park elements needed to complete
the park and unify the site's uses; 6) locates active park uses in appropriate
locations that are compatible with passive uses and habitat enhancement areas;
7) coordinates Plan goals, policies, and management issues with existing
regulations, interim guidelines, and the County's Open Space and Recreation
Element; 8) defines appropriate uses, park elements, and habitat protection
areas for adjacent lands to be acquired. |
