Stream Corridor Management Plan
for the City of Concord

For the City of Concord Engineering Department
Concord, California

Questa completed a Stream Corridor Study, Management and Enhancement Plan for Galindo and Mt. Diablo Creeks. Following completion of biologic, geomorphic, and hydrologic inventories of the creeks, overall stream corridor management strategies were developed to address erosion control and bank stability, vegetation management, flood control and storm water management, and habitat enhancement. The Management Plan included site-specific design recommendations for critical reaches of both creeks, which incorporated biotechnical stream bank repair and channel restoration and enhancement techniques. The channel hydraulic analysis was based on our previous HEC-RAS study of the creeks completed for FEMA as part of a Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) restudy.

In addition, Questa developed a detailed HEC-1 model for Galindo Creek, and a 41.5 acre-foot detention basin was designed to provide flood mitigation and water quality improvement.
