Questa conducted a hydraulic evaluation and design for the removal of approximately 300 feet of concrete culvert and replacement with a restored creek channel for a new library. Due to constraints posed by the library site and a channel gradient of nearly 2.5%, the design incorporated biotechnical bank stabilization methods and includes a series of rock boulder step pools leading into a new headwall and wing wall assembly at the entrance of the culvert.
Questa’s work included hydraulic design of the channel, initial development construction plans and details for construction of the step pool sequence from the culvert headwall and wing walls, daylighting to the existing channel, engineer’s estimate for the proposed channel work, maintenance, and habitat restoration monitoring. |
